Russian tough truck by AAV 4X4 - Off the radar
July, 2022
Queensland's AAV has put the Gaz 4WD truck on hold due to the Ukraine situation. Established just over three years ago by remote area adventurer Kym Bolton and his son Brett, AAV 4X4 is now one of Australia’s leading manufacturers of truck-based adventure vehicles, with 74 AAV trucks currently travelling roads around the world, on order, or in production. “Initially we concentrated on truck-based motorhomes, but we are now also building 4x4 truck-based single and dual cab exploration vehicles whose tray can be fitted with lockable storage modules and rooftop tents, while leaving room for an ATV, trail bikes, or even a tinnie behind,” said Brett. Apart from its lower base price, other advantages of the Gaz over its rivals include standard in-cab central deflation and reinflation of its monster 42-inch mud tyres.

Rock-crushing Gaz extreme off-road truck now available in Australia
July 2021
A fully compliant local version of Russia's toughest 4x4 light truck has just hit the Australian market, from local importer AAV 4x4. The Breendale, Queensland based business has taken two years to bring the hardcore Russian truck to Aussie shores, which it sees as a serious alternative to a Mercedes-Benz Unimog or Iveco Daily 4x4 cab-chassis. AAV 4x4's Brett Bolton is hoping to offer a motorhome version of the Gaz Trackmaster within two years, similar to its Fuso Canter 4x4-based Global Explorer, but at the moment it’s available as a fully-equipped tray back straight out of the box.

Meet the Gaz Trackmaster, the newest entrant to the 4×4 touring market and one with a difference. Gaz is one of Russia’s largest carmakers, and has a long history of trucks and military vehicles such as tanks, hovercraft, half-tracks and amphibians. Today it focuses mostly on trucks, and one of those is the Sadko, a medium truck which was first released in 1997 and seen service with several militaries.
